1 sm can black beans, drained
-
1 sm can kidney beans, drained
-
1 can apple pie filling
-
1 sm red bell pepper, seeded &chopped
-
1 poblano pepper, seeded & chopped
-
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded & chopped
-
1 white onion, chopped
-
1 ½ c light brown sugar
-
1 T Dijon mustard
-
2 T minced garlic
-
¼ C DB180 Sweet Rub
-
1/8 C DB180 Grill All
-
1 bottle Spicy BBQ Sauce
-
3-4 lb pulled pork (can use any smoked meat)
Directions
Prep the Ingredients:
Start by draining and rinsing your black beans and kidney beans. Chop the red bell pepper, poblano pepper, jalapenos, and white onion into small pieces. Set these colorful veggies aside.
Combine the Beans & Veggies:
In a large aluminum half-size deep pan, mix the three cans of Bush’s Original Baked Beans with the black beans and kidney beans. Add in the chopped peppers and onions, blending the beans and veggies for a hearty, flavorful base.
Add Sweetness & Spice:
Stir in the apple pie filling, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic for a sweet and tangy depth of flavor. Then, sprinkle in the DB180 Sweet Rub and DB180 Grill All to infuse the dish with that signature smoky goodness and spice.
Add the Pulled Pork:
For a full BBQ experience, add your pulled pork into the mix. Stir it into the beans and veggies, ensuring it’s well-coated with all the flavors. This will help the pork absorb all the smoky, sweet, and savory seasonings as it cooks.
Smoke the Beans:
Place the pan in your smoker, set to 350°F, and smoke the beans for about one hour. Stir occasionally to allow the smoky flavors to permeate throughout the beans and pork, creating a mouthwatering BBQ side dish.
Serve & Enjoy:
Once the vegetables are tender, remove the pan from the smoker. Let them cool slightly before serving. Whether alongside your favorite smoked meats or on their own, these Best BBQ Beans will be the star of the show!
Recipe Note
Garnish Ideas: For a fresh touch, garnish the finished dish with chopped fresh cilantro or green onions for a pop of color and an added burst of flavor.
Add a Kick: If you like a bit more heat, add extra chopped jalapenos or a splash of your favorite hot sauce before serving to spice things up.
Pairing Suggestions: These BBQ Beans are perfect alongside pulled pork sandwiches, grilled chicken, or ribs. Serve with cornbread or a side of slaw to complete your BBQ meal.
Make It Ahead: These beans can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the smoker or in the oven before serving for a meal that’s just as delicious the next day.
Try Different Meats: If you don't have pulled pork, this recipe is versatile—try it with smoked brisket, sausage, or even bacon for a different twist on flavor.

Had them at Pinecraft Barbecue and they were delicious. It was good talking to you.
Will should have won the pork entry at the Ace show. Absolutely amazing! My guess “big boys” had more visibility and won.
Great job Will and team!
